In 6th grade, we are introducing algebra. We are starting with, how to create tables and graphs based on different situations. These are key skills that are used in mathematics and science every year and in school. Being able to use tables and graphs correctly gives a new way of tools to their problem-solving kit and new ways to visualize mathematics. Not only are we learning to make the graphs and tables by hand, but using applications and websites such as; Geogebra, Desmos, and Numbers (Excel). Next year, students will learn to write linear equations for the graphs that they create.

Resumen: En 5º Grado, estamos iniciando el tema de álgebra. Estamos comenzando creando tablas y gráficas con base a diferentes situaciones, lo cual corresponde a habilidades clave que se usan en matemáticas y ciencias. Al usar las tablas y gráficas correctamente, los estudiantes tienen más herramientas para solucionar problemas y aprender nuevas formas para visualizar las matemáticas. Aprenden a hacer gráficas y tablas a mano y a través de diferentes aplicaciones como Geogebra, Desmos y Numbers. El siguiente año, aprenderán a escribir ecuaciones lineales para las gráficas que ellos crean.
