Suponemos que la dignidad es la expresión profunda del respeto por el ser humano, de la empatía que existe entre unos y otros y del valor de cada individuo. La dignidad, además de ser reconocida como un objetivo fundamental del actuar de los Estados y las sociedades, es un valor compartido por todas las grandes religiones del mundo.
Las tradiciones de las grandes religiones reconocen que la dignidad es inherente al ser humano porque la humanidad es la expresión de lo divino. De este modo, es un valor compartido por todos los pueblos y todas las culturas más allá del origen aceptado de la dignidad, ya que trasciende las fronteras y pretende unificar a los países y a las sociedades en torno a prácticas éticas, jurídicas y políticas similares, centrándose en la protección de los derechos de todos los seres humanos.
Felicitamos a los alumnos de Quinto grado, quienes realizaron un minucioso trabajo de investigación sobre lo que es la dignidad humana. Posteriormente, lo relacionaron con los valores de las religiones monoteístas y cómo estos valores pueden aplicarse y experimentarse en situaciones concretas de nuestra vida cotidiana, por ejemplo, en el colegio con la Regla de Oro. Human Dignity and the Golden Rule
We assume dignity is the profound expression of respect for human beings, of the empathy that exists for each other and of the value of each individual.
