Picnic of Words and Storytelling
To celebrate Mother Language Day last Wednesday, February 21, we held an outdoor activity, the eleventh grade students read stories in Spanish and English to the Kindergarten students, it was a very beautiful experience for both groups, the ones who read and the ones who listened. We also had the support of our publishing partner Santillana, Lo que leo. They supported this event by bringing an oral storyteller, Yeison Rojas, the children enjoyed a storytelling time, sheltered in the shade of two beautiful trees in their park, the students were very connected and participatory throughout the session. With this type of activities proposed by the CRA, we are contributing to the formation of children readers.
Third Grade
From the Writer's and Ilustrator's Desk
Third grade students had the interesting visit of the writer Beatriz Eugenia Vallejo and the illustrator Paula Solano, they shared their experience from their profession as a writer and illustrator, their challenges, successes and failures, the sources of inspiration, the process of editing, layout and finally the printing of the books, the children were able to clarify images and enjoy such an important meeting.
From the CRA we feel very proud to be able to support the reading and writing process of the students with activities of this type.

Eigth Grade
Improvisation
Thanks to the participation of our publishing partner Natgeo, we were fortunate to receive the WISDOM Improvisation group, a theatrical and creative group formed by scenic artists graduated from the Javeriana University. They perform this new trend of theater called "impro", which consists of the art of creating stories and scenes in the present moment from impulses or inspirations given by the public, having the actors the ability to use it and creatively form a coherent story, the sixth grade students actively participated in this theatrical manifestation, thanks to the fact that they were very connected. The students were able to appreciate this difficult exercise of attention, concentration and improvisation, following and carrying the thread of the play.

Advantages of Bilingualism
Thanks to the collaboration of our publishing partner Books and books, high school students were able to attend and participate in the conference led by Mr. Nicolás Gómez, a graduate in environmental and rural studies with a degree in Ecology, who currently works as an English teacher for businessmen and is also an official translator, From the conversation initiated by Nicolás, the students participated and clarified ideas from questions that for them were very disturbing, they came to understand the multiple advantages that are acquired on a social, emotional and economic level, when one masters more than one language, both spoken and written.
For Rochester School, which is recognized as a bilingual school, it was very timely that people from other parts of the world reinforced what it has always believed in, which is the importance of being globalized people.

Encuentros Literarios: Celebrando la Diversidad Lingüística y el Arte en la Educación
Jardin
Picnic de Palabras y Cuentería
Para celebrar el día de la lengua materna el pasado miércoles 21 de febrero realizamos una actividad al aire libre, los estudiantes de undécimo leyeron cuentos en español e inglés a los estudiantes de Jardín, fue una experiencia muy hermosa para los dos grupos tanto el que leyó como el que escuchó. Igualmente, contamos con el apoyo de la editorial aliada Santillana, Lo que leo. Quienes apoyaron este evento trayendo un Narrador Oral, se trata de Yeison Rojas, los niños disfrutaron de un rato de cuentería, cobijados a la sombra de dos hermosos árboles de su parque, los estudiantes estuvieron muy conectados y participativos durante toda la sesión. Con este tipo de actividades propuestas desde el CRA, estamos contribuyendo en la formación de niñas y niños lectores.
Segundo Grado
Desde el Escritorio del Escritor y del Ilustrador
Los estudiantes de Segundo grado contaron con la interesante visita de la escritora Beatriz Eugenia Vallejo y de la ilustradora Paula Solano, ellas compartieron su experiencia desde su profesión como Escritora e Ilustradora, sus retos, aciertos y desaciertos, las fuentes de inspiración, el proceso de edición, diagramación y finalmente la impresión de los libros, los niños pudieron aclarar imágenes y disfrutar de un encuentro tan importante.
Desde el CRA nos sentimos muy orgullosos de poder apoyar el proceso de lectura y escritura de los estudiantes con actividades de este tipo.

Séptimo Grado
Improvisación
Gracias a la participación de la editorial aliada Natgeo, tuvimos la fortuna de recibir el grupo de Improvisación WISDOM, grupo teatral y creativo conformado por artistas escénicos egresados de la universidad Javeriana. Ellos realizan esta nueva tendencia de teatro llamada “impro”, que consiste en el arte de crear historias y escenas en el momento presente a partir de impulso o inspiraciones que da el público, teniendo los actores la habilidad de usarla y creativamente formar una historia coherente, los estudiantes de sexto participaron activamente de esta manifestación teatral, gracias a que estuvieron muy conectados. Los estudiantes pudieron apreciar este difícil ejercicio de atención, concentración e improvisación, siguiendo y llevando el hilo de la obra.
Desde el CRA nos unimos para apoyar las diferentes manifestaciones del arte, disfrutando y aprendiendo.
Bachillerato Alto
Ventajas del Bilingüismo
Gracias a la colaboración de nuestra editorial aliada Books and books, los estudiantes de bachillerato alto, pusieron asistir y participar a la conferencia liderada por el señor Nicolás Gómez, graduado en estudios ambientales y rurales con el título de Ecólogo, quien actualmente se desempeña como maestro de inglés para empresarios y además es traductor oficial, a partir de la conversación entablada por Nicolás los estudiantes participaron y aclararon ideas a partir de preguntas que para ellos eran muy inquietantes llegaron a comprender las múltiples ventajas que se adquieren a nivel social, emocional y económico, cuando se domina más de un idioma, tanto hablado como escrito.
Para el colegio Rochester que es reconocido como colegio Bilingüe, fue muy oportuno que personas de otras partes reforzaran en lo que siempre ha creído, que es la importancia de ser personas globalizadas.
