La FILBO de Bogotá es el evento de lectura más importante de Colombia, por lo que estamos muy orgullosos de ver al Colegio Rochester participando activamente en este evento cultural internacional. Como parte de la Alianza de Bibliotecas Escolares Biblionet, Rochester fue anfitrión de una charla del científico y escritor francés Antonio Fischetti. Doctor en Física, profesor de Arte, intrépido columnista de la famosa revista Charlie Hebdo y cineasta, además de autor, Fischetti compartió con generosidad y buen humor su pasión por el aprendizaje interdisciplinario, y demostró ser un excelente modelo para los propios ideales educativos del Colegio Rochester. Su entretenida y reveladora charla, en la que echó un vistazo entre bastidores a su maravilloso libro Perros y Gatos bajo la lupa de los científicos, tuvo lugar ante cientos de invitados de los colegios Andino, La Montaña, Andes y, por supuesto, el Colegio Rochester, y estuvo seguida de una fascinante entrevista con algunos de nuestros alumnos franceses en su propia lengua. ¡Fue una oportunidad única y especial de pasar un rato con una figura tan fascinante!
Como broche de oro de la primera semana de la FILBO en Rochester, algunos estudiantes de Primaria Baja visitaron el Colegio Andino para participar en una charla del aclamado autor e ilustrador japonés Satoshi Kitamura, mientras que los estudiantes de Bachillerato Alto viajaron al Gimnasio Los Andes para ver al científico, escritor y, según parece, músico uruguayo Ernesto Blanco.
Estos actos no sólo crearon un gran revuelo literario, sino que también fueron un escaparate en el que realmente brillaron las virtudes y la alegría de nuestros estudiantes rochesterianos. ¡Enhorabuena a todos los participantes de los diferentes eventos!

ROCHESTER AT FILBO AS HOST OF A TALK BY FRENCH SCIENTIST AND WRITER, ANTONIO FISCHETTI
Bogota’s FILBO is Colombia’s most important reading event, and so we are very proud to see Rochester taking an active part in this international cultural moment. As part of the Biblionet School Library Alliance, Rochester was host to a talk by French scientist and author, Antonio Fischetti. A doctor in Physics, an Arts Professor, a fearless columnist for the renowned Charlie Hebdo magazine, and filmmaker along with being an author, Fischetti generously and good-naturedly shared his passion for interdisciplinary learning, and showed himself to be an excellent model for Rochester’s own educative ideals. His entertaining and eye-opening talk which took a behind-the-scenes look at his wonderful book, Dogs and Cats under the scientists’ magnifying glass, was given in front of hundreds of guests from schools like Andino, La Montaña, Andes, and - of course - Rochester School, and was followed by a fascinating interview with some of our French students in his own tongue. It was a rare and special opportunity to spend time with such a fascinating figure!
To round off Rochester’s first FILBO week, selected Rochester students from Lower Elementary visited Andino School to participate in a talk given by acclaimed Japanese author and illustrator, Satoshi Kitamura, while High School students made the trip to Gimnasio Los Andes to see Uruguayan scientist, author, and, as it turns out, musician, Ernesto Blanco.
Not only did these events create quite the literary stir, but were also a showcase in which the virtues and joy of our Rochester students really shone. Congratulations to all who were a part of the events!
