En la clase de matemáticas, nuestros estudiantes de Prejardín emprendieron un emocionante viaje para lograr el conteo del 1 al 5. Este viaje combinó música, literatura, movimiento y arte, haciendo que el aprendizaje fuera tanto divertido como atractivo. Queremos compartir cómo nuestros estudiantes descubrieron la magia de los números a través de esta fusión.
Contando con Canciones
La aventura comenzó con melodías de canciones familiares que ayudaron a los estudiantes a entender los conceptos básicos del conteo. Los estudiantes empezaron a cantar “Cinco Patitos” (“Five Little Ducklings”), lo que les animó a contar los patitos a medida que se iban perdiendo uno por uno. La repetición de la canción reforzó la secuencia de conteo del 1 al 5, mientras que los movimientos de manos y los materiales concretos dieron vida a los números.
Hora del Cuento: Explorando Números con “Una Oruga Muy Hambrienta”
Después de esta atractiva actividad musical, los estudiantes se reunieron a escuchar el cuento de Eric Carle, “Una Oruga Muy Hambrienta” (“The Very Hungry Caterpillar”). A medida que la oruga come una variedad de alimentos, los estudiantes fueron introducidos al concepto de correspondencia numérica. Cada página del cuento les dio la oportunidad de contar diferentes tipos de comida, reforzando los números del 1 al 5 en un contexto familiar para muchos.
Explorando a Través del Arte y las Matemáticas: Creando una Línea de Números de Oruga
La última parte de nuestra aventura de conteo implicó un proyecto artístico que permitió a los estudiantes aplicar sus habilidades de conteo de manera creativa. Usando materiales reciclados, los estudiantes crearon sus propias rectas numéricas del 1 al 5 con forma de oruga. Ellos decoraron cartones de huevos con pintura, lo que les permitió explorar cómo se forman los colores y, también utilizaron papel de colores y tijeras para recrear la comida que comió la oruga, lo que a su vez reforzó sus habilidades de motricidad fina.
Una reflexión sobre el aprendizaje
A través de esta combinación de música, literatura y arte, los estudiantes de Prejardín disfrutaron su introducción al conteo del 1 al 5. Esta combinación aseguró que la experiencia de aprendizaje fuera divertida y significativa. Counting Adventures: A Fun Math Journey Through Music, Stories, and Art

In math class, our Pre-k students embarked on an exciting journey to master counting from 1 to 5. This counting journey combined music, literature, movement, and art, making learning both fun and engaging. Here’s a glimpse into how our students discovered the magic of numbers through a blend of songs, stories, and art projects.
Counting with Songs
The adventure began with the tunes of familiar songs that helped students grasp the basics of counting. Students began singing “Five Little Ducklings,” which encouraged them to sing along and count the ducklings as they went missing one by one. The repetition of the song reinforced the counting sequence from 1 to 5, while the hand movements and concrete props brought the numbers to life.
Story Time: Exploring Numbers with “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”
After this engaging music activity, students gathered for storytime with Eric Carle’s famous book, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.” As the caterpillar eats a variety of foods, students were introduced to the concept of numerical correspondence. Each page of the story gave them the opportunity to count different types of food, reinforcing the numbers 1 through 5 in a context that was relatable.
Exploring through art and math: Creating a Caterpillar Number Line
The final part of our counting adventure involved a hands-on art project that allowed students to apply their counting skills creatively. Using recycled materials, students crafted their own caterpillar number lines from 1 to 5. They decorated their egg cartons with paint. This experience allowed them to explore how colors are formed. They also used construction paper and scissors to recreate the food the caterpillar ate, which reinforced their fine motor skills.
Reflecting on the Fun
Through a blend of music, literature, and art, Pre-k students enjoyed their introduction to counting from 1 to 5. This blend ensured that the learning experience was fun and meaningful. Our counting adventure was an example of how integrating different learning styles can enhance the acquisition of complex skills.
